PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a model steam locomotive which is correctly scaled, looks heavy and exhibits a great traction force. SOLUTION: This model steam locomotive 1 is composed of a locomotive body 2 which has a boiler 6, a cylinder 7, a driver's cab 8 and a plurality of main driving wheels 9-11 and a coal tender 3 which is coupled to the rear of the driver's cab 8 of the locomotive body 2. The coal tender 3 functions as a driving car. The model steam locomotive 1 is provided with a load applying means 30 between the locomotive body 2 and the coal tender 3 for applying a load to them. By applying the load to the locomotive body 2, its own weight is increased, its wheels are prevented from being derailed and it looks heavier.
