The invention provides isolated BTL-II proteins, nucleic acids, antibodies, antagonists, and agonists and methods of making and using the same. Diagnostic, screening, and therapeutic methods using the compositions of the invention are provided. For example, the compositions of the invention can b e used for diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases and for enhancing a mucosal immune response to an antigen.
