A process tests a liquor for suitability to bleach a textile with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a catalyst, and determine the presence of a catalyst poison. In the process, a pre-determined volume of the liquor is passed through a filter which is a test textile, and which is subsequently tested for the presence of the catalyst which is iron or an iron compound. An independent claim is also included for a commensurate assembly which receives a 20 -100 liter sample of the liquor directly from the main supply and which is returned to the main flow immediately after testing. The assembly has an inlet (2) and an outlet (5) for the liquid sample, a pump (1) and a filter (4) which is a sample of the cloth in question. The assembly further has a switch which terminates flow through the filter (4) following passage of a pre-determined volume of liquor. The assembly has a housing with inlets and outlets, a control panel an instrument display interface. |
