<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To force a sitting passenger to wear a seat belt when the passenger is not wearing the seat belt by providing a seat with a means for forcing the passenger to wear the belt and to let a vehicle start in case of emergency though the passenger is not wearing the seat belt. <P>SOLUTION: A head rest tilting mechanism 10 comprises a holding part 11 for tiltably holding a head rest 5, a coil spring 12 for energizing the head rest 5 in the forward tilting direction, and a stopper mechanism 13 for holding the head rest 5 normally in the regular position and releasing the head rest 5 to tilt forward when the passenger is not wearing the belt. When an ignition switch is applied and the seat belt is not worn, the head rest tilting mechanism 10 operates to tilt the head rest 5 based on detecting action of a belt wearing detection means 3 and makes the passenger sitting on the seat 1 feel uncomfortable so as to promote wearing the seat belt. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
