PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a an optical fiber having a practical and small diffraction optical film at an end part efficiently and at low cost. SOLUTION: The optical fiber (F) includes the diffraction optical film (DF) formed on its end face or on the end face of a collimator (C) stuck to that end face; this diffraction optical film includes a translucent DLC (diamond-like carbon) layer; and this DLC layer includes a refractive index modulation type diffraction grating including a local area of a relatively high refractive index and a local area of a relatively low refractive index.
