PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with the state that excessive speed change is eventually caused by the inertia of shifting operation of a continuously variable transmission which adopts such a shift mode that up-shafting or down-shifting continues during up-shift or down-shift instructions with an operation terminal such as a shift lever, even if an driver stops the operation when he is satisfied with a shifted condition obtained by the operation of the operation terminal. SOLUTION: An excessive gear ratio change correction control is built in a speed control for returning the gear ratio changed by inertia after the operation of the operation terminal is canceled, to the gear ratio at the moment when the operation is canceled.
