METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CIS, CIS-DECAHYDRO-2-NAPHTHOL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently manufacturing cis, cis-decahydro-2-naphthol of high purity. SOLUTION: 2-Naphthol is catalytically reduced using an R-Ni catalyst in an isopropanol solvent to give decahydro-2-naphthol as the main product while suppressing formation of a by-product. Subsequent distillation of the solvent and collection of deposited crystals give only cis, cis-decahydro-2-naphthol as a white crystal from among a large number of stereoisomers produced.
