PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-mode radio communication device which is equipped with one radio part to be shared in a plurality of communication modes and is capable of switching the communication modes at a high speed. SOLUTION: In the multi-mode radio communication device composed of the radio part capable of switching the communication modes and a control part for periodically operating the radio part in a cellular phone mode and switching the mode into a wireless LAN mode after the lapse of a predetermined time, and when the occurrence of a call termination event is detected while the radio part is under waited reception in the cellular phone mode, the control part suppresses switching into the wireless LAN mode and judges whether or not the communication in the cellular phone mode is to be continued. A multi-mode wireless terminal can be obtained for periodically switching and executing a plurality of kinds of communication modes of different communication protocols like cellular phone communications and wireless LAN communications since the communication modes can be switched at a high speed.
