PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire having significantly decreased air permeability. SOLUTION: The pneumatic tire has an inner liner layer composed of rubber composition containing as a rubber component 60-100 wt% of at least one kind of butyl based rubber selected from butyl rubber, halogenated butyl rubber, and a group made of halide of copolymer of iso-mono-olefin having carbon number of 4-7 and para-alkylstyrene. The pneumatic tire has a gas barrier layer comprising an inorganic layered compound having a particle size of at most 5μm and an aspect ratio of 50 to 5000 and a resin on the inner face of the inner liner layer via an anchor coat layer.
