X-ray irradiation device (1) has an X-ray source and a collimator (3) for generation of collimated X-ray beams (R). The radiation source (2) has a spatially extended radiation surface and means for simultaneous and or sequential generation of radiation from different positions (13) on it. The collimator is designed such that radiation passing through it is focussed on a particular focal region (B) of the object. Thus radiation from different source positions passes through the focus area at different angles. An Independent claim is made for a method for generating collimated X-radiation for irradiation a focal area of an object from different angles.
