NONAQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE SECONDARY BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery with high energy density and excellent cycle characteristics.

SOLUTION: In this nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode 4 containing a metallic negative electrode current collector 41 and a nonaqueous electrolyte, a negative electrode active material layer 42 containing an element alloyable with lithium is formed on the surface of the negative electrode current collector 41, and the surface of the negative electrode active material layer 42 is covered with a carbon material 43. The high energy density can be attained by using element alloyable with lithium as the negative electrode active material. Excellent cycle characteristics can be obtained by covering the surface of the negative electrode active material 42 with the carbon material 43.
