<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve color reproducibility by suppressing the change in chromaticity of a toner patch on a color matching chart due to the heating of a fixing device when the density or chromaticity after fixation is detected and controlled. <P>SOLUTION: The latent images formed on photoreceptor drums 11a, 11b, 11c and 11d according to an image signal are developed with toner and visualized, and the visible images are transferred to a transfer material and thermally fixed by a fixing device 17. Further, the density or chromaticity of a specified toner patch after fixation which is formed on the transfer material is detected and according to the detection result, color control over the toner images which are visualized is performed. At this time, deterioration of the color matching chart is prevented when the color matching chart such that the toner patch for color control is transferred to and fixed on the transfer material is detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
