PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a toner which can be classified in a desired particle size distribution, ensures high density and can form images of high image quality with little fog even by continuous printing, and to provide a toner obtained by the manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a toner consisting of colored particles with adjusted particle size distribution comprises a step of preparing colored particles containing a binder resin and a colorant, and a step of classifying the colored particles. In the classifying step, a classifier having a plurality of impeller type classifying rotors on the same shaft in one casing is used, wherein the classifying rotors can be set at the same rotational frequency or different rotational frequencies and a plurality of classifying stages corresponding to the classifying rotors can be simultaneously carried out.
