PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively reduce vibration and noise propagated to a car following air turbulence created between the opposed surfaces of the car and a weight device when passing by the car. SOLUTION: Either one or both of an upper part and a lower part of an elevator counterweight frame elevated in an opposite direction to the car are provided with air deflectors 15 each having a first plate body 16 parallel with the passing surface of the car, and a second plate body 17 inclined downward in an opposite direction to the car from the top part of the plate body 16, and travel air flow created when passing by the car is deflected along the downward inclined face on the opposite side to the car to decrease air flow getting in between the opposed surfaces of the car and counterbalance frame and in its turn to reduce the air turbulence, which results in considerably reducing vibration and noise propagated to the car.
