PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold down the volume of the folio in a sheet folding machine for folding sheets in half for simplified binding. SOLUTION: In the sheet folding device that inserts the center part of the sheets P between a pair of pinch rollers 12 kept in contact with each other and folds the sheets in half by the rotary drive of the pair of pinch rollers to shape into a folio, a roller 4 is so provided to rotate on a sheet table 13 at the sheet discharging side in the lateral direction. When the folio pressed by the pinch rollers is discharged on the sheet table, the roller traverses the sheet table while rotating and pressing on the folded part of the folio.
