<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a polyelectrolytic type fuel cell for keeping up paste stability, preventing a pin hole or a crack in or on the surface of a catalyst layer, uniforming a current density distribution, and preventing reductions in discharge and lifetime properties. <P>SOLUTION: In a mixing and stirring process when mixing catalyst carrier carbon particles with binder resins to produce a catalyst layer paste, under a state in which an atmosphere in a mixing and stirring apparatus has a vapor density of 90 vol% and an inactive gas density of 10 vol%, the carbon particles and the resins are mixed and stirred. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
