PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method preferably applicable to a high endurance digital high-speed electrophotographic process with laser light as a writing light source which joins the mainstream in recent years, excellent in wear resistance, nearly free of deterioration of a photoreceptor such as filming, and capable of giving a stable excellent image in a high-definition electrophotographic process, and to provide an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge for the image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: In the image forming method in which a static image carrier is subjected to at least charging, imagewise exposure, development, transfer, fixation and cleaning, a static image carrier with a protective layer containing inorganic fine particles surface-hydrophobed to a degree of hydrophobicity of 40-80% is used and a lubricant is supplied to a surface of the static image carrier.
