PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus and a recording method for decreasing the capacity of a buffer memory even when a video data recorder having an interface with e.g., a computer adopts the recording apparatus and the recording method is configured to input/output the data to/from the computer so as to enhance the affinity with the computer. SOLUTION: In the case of recording streaming data D 11 comprising video data or the like, part areas 17AB of the recording buffer 17A temporarily store data D13 recorded on a recording medium 18 and the remaining areas 17AA are allocated to the processing of the streaming data D11 by the buffer memory.
