PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phenolic resin composition obtained by the investigation to solve the problems relating to the increase of the carbonization rate of conventional phenolic resin, and having high carbonization rate while minimizing the influence on the curability. SOLUTION: The phenolic resin composition having high carbonization rate in baking and carbonization is composed of a phenolic resin and an aromatic polycyclic quinone compound. Preferably, the composition further contains formaldehyde and the content of the aromatic polycyclic quinone compound is 10-80 wt.% in the phenolic resin composition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
