A protective overlayer for a sensor array sensing surface (sensing layer) comprising a plurality of different sensing films includes an amorphous fluoropolymer overlayer (Protective layer) overlaid on the different sensing films, the amorphous fluoropolymer being resistant to common organic solvents, alkaline and acid solutions.
