PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide an image forming apparatus which effectively prevents generation of rust on a grid surface and can suppress occurrence of image spots by uneven electrostatic charge due to generation of rust, when loaded with a corona discharger (charger) using a platelike grid. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a photoreceptor on which an electrostatic charge image is formed, a charger 12 for charging the photoreceptor, a developing unit for developing an electrostatic charge image formed on the photoreceptor to form a toner image, a transfer electrode for transferring the toner image onto a transfer material, and a fixing unit for fixing the toner image on the transfer material, wherein the charger 12 has a platelike grid 123 in which a great number of openings have been formed, and the grid 123 comprises a nickel-free stainless steel having a chromium content of≥13%, an aluminum content of≥1% and a carbon content of≤0.05%.
