PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can form a color image less in color shift. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 which forms a toner image and finally transfers the toner image onto a form P is equipped with an intermediate transfer belt 11 to which the toner image is transferred while the transfer belt 11 is rotating, a plurality of photoreceptor drums 12Y, 12M, 12C, and 12K which are successively arranged in the conveying direction A of the transfer belt 11 with specified intervals and has toner images of respective colors formed on its surface while rotating in a direction B in contact with the intermediate transfer belt 11, primary transfer rolls 18Y, 18M, 18C, and 18K which are arranged across the intermediate transfer belt and transfer the toner images on the corresponding photoreceptor drums to the intermediate transfer belt 11, and a photoreceptor driving controller 17 which applies tension to respective sections sandwiched between the two adjacent photoreceptor drums.
