<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser printer (image forming apparatus) provided with a gear connection structure capable of improving the mechanical strength of the engagement part of a connection member engaged with a gear and reducing the cost of the parts of the connection member. <P>SOLUTION: In the laser printer (image forming apparatus), the second engagement part 15 of the second connection member 8 is engaged with the holes 13a of the transmission gear 13 of a sub-gear box 6 so as not to be rotated idly but so as to have play. The second engagement part 15 includes rib-shaped portions 16 which have no hooks and have substantially uniform widths from their roots to the top ends. Viscous grease is applied to the part in which the second engagement part 15 of the second connection member 8 is engaged with the holes 13a of the transmission gear 13 of the sub-gear box 6.
