<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor transition of a cell from one state into another state, by utilizing a technique based on genomes. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for monitoring differentiation of at least one cell subjected to the transition from a state 1 into a state 2, wherein processes (a) to (f) are conducted as follows: (a) a methylation pattern of a cytosine in a DNA of a cell existing in the state 1 is determined; (b) another methylation pattern of the cytosine in the DNA of the cell existing in the state 2 is determined; (c) the cell of the state 1 is exposed to a culture condition in which the cell is converted into the cell of the state 2; (d) the other methylation pattern of the cytosine in the DNA of the cell which is exposed to the culture condition is determined; (e) the methylation pattern of the cytosine measured in the process (d) is compared with the methylation patterns determined in the processed (a) and (b); and (f) evaluation is conducted based on the obtained data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
