PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color separation device for a solid state image sensor in which image quality is enhanced by enhancing the photon utilization efficiency of each light receiving element thereby eliminating the generation of a false color. SOLUTION: Incident light is condensed at an opening 12 through a microlens 11. Light passed through the opening 12 reaches a first dichroic mirror 13 which transmits blue light and reflects green and red lights. Only blue light enters a first light receiving surface 16. Green and red lights are introduced to a second dichroic mirror 14 by means of the first dichroic mirror 13. The second dichroic mirror 14 transmits green light and reflects red light. Only green light enters a second light receiving surface 17. Red light is introduced to a third dichroic mirror 15 by means of the second dichroic mirror 14.
