SOLUTION: When an object light 5 is incident on a 2-dimensional optical space modulator 6, it is optically transformed into a 2-dimensionally modulated object light 51, according to recording information. The 2-dimensionally modulated object light 51 is optically Fourier transformed by a lens 7, in which the 2-dimensional Fourier transformed image is projected on a mask 10 having the shape in which a material reflecting or absorbing the light is distributed in a 2-dimensional plane. The object light 51 is transformed into a new object light 52 not including a specified spatial frequency component of the original object light, by the mask 10. The recording medium 8 is irradiated with the new object light 52 and a reference light 4, and interference fringes of both of the two are formed on the recording medium 8, to be recorded as the hologram (interference fringes).
