PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nail lacquer composition exhibiting a good stability, adhesion and maintenance over time, and especially resistances against abrasion, water and/or thin piece formation. SOLUTION: The nail lacquer composition is obtained by incorporating a film-forming copolymer having a gradient characteristic and showing≤2.5, preferably 1.1-2.3, especially 1.15-2.0 and further preferably 1.2-1.9 or 1.8 mass polydisperse index (PI) and containing at least 2 different monomers in a cosmetically acceptable medium, and capable of forming a film exhibiting <1 mg/min, preferably <0.8 mg/min, further <0.6 mg/min and further preferably 0.4 mg/min weight loss rate, in the case of applying an abrasion force produced by using a Taber abrasion tester on the film at 23°C.
