PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive gripper that allows a stable grip, and a container using the same. SOLUTION: The gripper comprises a gripper body 100 having gripper members 110, 120 whose respective one ends 111, 121 are connected via hinges, a pivotal support 200 arranged on the outer surface of a cool water cylinder 10 and supporting the other end 112 of the gripper member 110 to allow the other end 112 pivot freely, and a pivotal support 300 arranged below the pivotal support 200 on the outer surface of the cool water cylinder 10 and supporting the other end 122 of the gripper member 120 to allow the other end 122 to slide along the outer surface of the cylinder 10 and pivot freely. The gripper body 100 bends into an almost doglegged shape when the other end 122 of the gripper member 120 is at the upper end of the pivotal support 300, while becomes approximately linear when the other end 122 of the gripper member 120 is at the lower end of the pivotal support 300.
