An organic platinum-group element compound as a proton-conductive carbon cluster, which comprises a fullerenol and/or fullerenol hydrogen sulfate ester and a platinum-group element bonded to a carbon atom of the fullerenol and/or ester. The organic platinum-group element compound as a proton-conductive carbon cluster is useful as a proton conductor. The organic platinum-group element compound as a proton-conductive carbon cluster can be obtained by reacting a zerovalent platinum-group element complex with a fullerenol and/or fullerenol hydrogen sulfate ester.
