Air or hydraulic fluid is fed in to piston base (1) to stretch membrane (4) and press onto piston (5) so that piston moves through cylinder ring (2). Movement produces force on piston plate (3) hence producing power stroke for press. Force is passed from piston plate onto lower plate or upper pressure/heat plate.
