<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element superior in photoelectric conversion characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The element uses a dyestuff as shown in general formula 1 of the Fig.1 as a photoelectric conversion material. In this case, in the general formula 1, R<SB>1</SB>shows arylene group, heterocyclic ring; R<SB>2</SB>shows hydrogen atom, alkyl group, alkoxy group, halogen atom; R<SB>3</SB>, R<SB>4</SB>show hydrogen atom, alkyl group, alkoxy group, alkylthio group, mono-substituted amino group, di-substituted amino group, alalkyl group, alkenyl group, aryl group, heterocyclic ring residue; R<SB>5</SB>shows a substituted group having an acidic group; R<SB>6</SB>, R<SB>7</SB>show hydrogen atom, alkyl group, aryl group, heterocyclic ring, R<SB>8</SB>, R<SB>9</SB>, R<SB>10</SB>show hydrogen atom, alkyl group, alkoxy group, aryl group, heterocyclic ring; X<SB>1</SB>shows a linking group forming an annular structure together with amino group; and m shows an integer of 0-2, and n shows integer of 0-2 respectively.
