<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing an increased amount of hydrogen from an organic material in improved efficiency, and provide a method for the production of hydrogen. <P>SOLUTION: The hydrogen production apparatus 10 produces hydrogen by charging a reaction vessel 11 with an organic material and a microorganism capable of producing hydrogen by decomposition and decomposing the organic material with the microorganism. The apparatus is provided with a culture liquid storing means 21 to store a culture liquid for the proliferation of the microorganism, a preculture means 20 for the microorganism receiving the culture liquid from the culture liquid storing means 21, proliferating the microorganism supplied to the preculture means containing supplied culture liquid and supplying the proliferated microorganism to the reaction vessel 11, and a controlling means 17 to control the amount of the culture liquid in the case of supplying the culture liquid containing the microorganism from the preculture means 20 to the reaction vessel 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
