<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber which has small transmission loss and small wavelength dispersion even if an optical signal of a wide wavelength range is transferred, in wavelength-division multiplex transmission, an optical transmission line using the optical fiber, and an optical fiber which is suitably applied to a Raman amplification type optical transmission line. <P>SOLUTION: This optical fiber has only one zero dispersion wavelength within a wavelength range of 1,350 to 1,410 nm. Further, a dispersion value (D) at 1,550 nm is 2 to 8 ps/nm/km and a dispersion slope (DS) is a positive value and ≤0.05 ps/nm<SP>2</SP>/km; and effective core cross section (Aeff) is ≤50 μm<SP>2</SP>, transmission loss at a 1,380 nm wavelength is ≤0.4 dB/km, and transmission loss at a 1,380 nm wavelength before and after a hydrogen aging test never varies by ≥0.04 dB/km. Preferably, transmission loss at a 1,550 nm wavelength is ≤0.25 dB/km, an increment of loss in curving to a 20 mm diameter is ≤30 dB/m, and a cutoff wavelength is ≤1,350 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
