<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of optically compensating for a liquid crystal cell by using a polarizing plate having an optical compensation function, and optical film using the same, especially, a method of displaying a high quality image without causing unevenness even in a large type liquid crystal display device, and an optical film using the same, and further a liquid crystal display device using this optical fim or the polarizing plate. <P>SOLUTION: The optical film has, on a supporting body, an optically anisotropic layer containing a liquid crystal compound, and a copolymer containing a fluoro fatty group which is derived from (meta)crylate monomer and polyoxyalkylene (meta)crylate monomer and includes repeating units.
