PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve a problem of the wear and surface roughening which are increased when cold-rolling is performed under severe rolling conditions. SOLUTION: This roll for cold-rolling has steel composition containing≥0.8 to <1.5% C, 0.1-2.0% Si, 0.1-2.0% Mn, 3,0-8.0% Cr, 1.0-10.0% Mo, 0.5-5.0% V,≤10.0% W and≤6.0% Co. By manufacturing this roll for cold-rolling by continuous building-up method, at least the roll surface which is in contact with a material to be rolled is composed of an iron base alloy having the dispersion characteristic of the carbide by which intercrystalline interval of the carbide having the equivalent grain size√Sc of≥10μm when expressing the area of carbide on the roll surface by Sc is taken as≤50μm in the average value and also the maximum value of this equivalent grain size is 100μm. In this way, the resistance to the generation of the line flaws caused by cutting of free hard particles from the material to be rolled into the structure of a base metal of the roll surface is raised.
