PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper end support device for a chain for suspending a submerged pump capable of effectively preventing the bounce of the chain during drainage. SOLUTION: The suspension chain 19 for lifting and lowering the submerged pump in a hollow column 4 is connected to the submerged pump 5. An upper cover 11 is mounted to the upper face of a flange part 7 provided at the upper end part of the hollow column 4, through an annular intermediate flange plate 9. Cutout grooves are opposedly formed at radially separated inner peripheral parts of the intermediate flange plate 9. A chain support bar 15 is detachably fitted in and arranged over both cutout grooves. A link 19a at the upper end of the suspension chain 19 is connected to a chain connection part 15a, provided positioned near the center part of the hollow column 4, of the chain support bar 15 through a shackle 20.
