PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission device such that even an optical transmission medium of a small size can easily be positioned with high precision. SOLUTION: In the optical transmission device, a plurality of optical transmission media 11 are supported by being inserted into corresponding groove parts 13 provided on a base substrate 12. Each optical transmission medium 11 has a plurality of step parts in a staircase shape at its one end. The respective step parts have light incidence/emitting parts 14a to 14d respectively. At the light incidence/emitting parts 14a to 14d, 45°inclined surfaces which enable light signals to be made incident or emitted from a direction perpendicular to the propagation direction of light in the media are formed. The base substrate 12 has projection parts 26 to 28 by the optical transmission media 11, and consequently, the optical transmission media 11 are fixed by pressing flanks of the optical transmission media 11.
