PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wedge excellent in rigidity and mountability. SOLUTION: A wedge 1 is attached in a slot to close the inner peripheral opening of the slot which is provided on the inner peripheral side of an annular stator core for inserting of a coil. The slot is provided with a slot open part where the spatial width is constricted at its inner peripheral end, and a general part where the spatial width is wider than the slot open part at its outer peripheral side. The wedge 1 comprises a wide width part 11 disposed at the general part, and a protrusion 12 which is narrower than the wide width part 11 and is protruded from the wide width part 11 at the slot open part 52.
