To disintegrate and give a tribochemical activation, especially to inorganic granules (7) with a crystalline structure, the material is subjected to shock pressure fronts to give shock compressions to reduce the particle size to at most1 mum. The pulse durations are at most10 microseconds with a sequence frequency of at least8 kHz. Shaped bodies (1) are at rotating disks (15,16), with an aerodynamic profile, which are moved continuously at transonic speeds so that their flow surfaces generate shock fronts with a constant change of rotating speeds within the disintegration zone (29). The outer surface (39) of one disk (16) is sealed against the housing (20) by a sealing ring to prevent undesired suction effects on the granules.
