PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program information database and a program recording and reproducing apparatus in which information can be managed in the optimal state without system down even when program information becomes much more than the capacity of prepared memories. SOLUTION: An EPG database has a plurality of cells 1 for dividing a memory region 10 for storing program information into a fixed size and a list structure for connecting the plurality of cells 1 in the form of list, and when registering program information 2, the program information is divided into information with the order of priority (program name 3, program contents 4 and contract information 5).
