PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master carrier for magnetic transfer of which the durability in transfer of the multiple number of times can be secured. SOLUTION: A pattern 3a of a soft magnetic substance formed corresponding to information for transferring to a magnetic recording medium is incorporated in an electroforming member layer 5 of a master carrier 6. The pattern 3a of the soft magnetic substance and the electroforming member layer 5 consist of materials of which the magnetic characteristics are different from each other.
