PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater improved in durability without receiving an influence of the structure of an exhaust chamber and allowing to effectively use a heat transmission area of a heat exchanger. SOLUTION: This water heater has a burner for supplying the heat, a combustion chamber having an exhaust opening part for feeding the combustion gas burned by the burner to the exhaust chamber, the heat exchanger arranged in the combustion chamber and formed of pipe arrangement and the fin structure, and the exhaust chamber for taking the combustion gas, which is passed through the heat exchanger and fed from the exhaust opening part, through an exhaust chamber inlet part to discharge it outside through a discharge opening. In this water heater, the exhaust chamber inlet part of the exhaust chamber is provided so that a part thereof is overlapped with the exhaust opening part of the combustion chamber in relation to a vertical projecting surface from the top surface of the water heater, or the center parts of the exhaust opening part of the combustion chamber and an intake opening part of the exhaust chamber are displaced from each other so that the exhaust chamber inlet part of the exhaust chamber is not included inside the exhaust opening part of the combustion chamber, and a rectifying means for rectifying the combustion gas is provided between the combustion chamber and the exhaust chamber.
