PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and lightweight planetary gear speed reducer capable of smoothly transmitting the power. SOLUTION: This planetary gear speed reducer 1 comprises a first carrier unit 5 connected to a first sun gear 4 fixed to an output shaft 3 of a motor 2, a second carrier unit 7 connected to the first carrier unit 5, and a gear housing 10 for accommodating the first carrier unit 5 and the second carrier unit 7 in a carrier unit accommodation space 8. A cylindrical member 23 extended from a motor 2 side is fitted to an outer periphery of the gear housing, until a positioning face 26 at a tip side of the gear housing 10 is butted against a butting face 25 at the motor 2 side. A tongue piece 32 formed on a tip of the cylindrical member 23 is bent and fixed to a cut part (recessed part) 31 for caulking, formed on an outer periphery of the gear housing 10.
