PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus which can adapt to a multibeam without developing a new hardware, and an image information processing method therefor. SOLUTION: When two laser beams are generated by using an image processing part 18 which are equipped with a plurality of processing systems having the function of enabling input image data to be expanded in the set number of pixels in a main/sub-scanning direction and cutting an image area set according to the image data after expansion, a CPU 12 sets the numbers of the pixels, in the main scanning and sub-scanning directions, of the two processing systems at a value, which is obtained by multiplying the number of the main-scanning-direction pixels of an image by 2, and a value, which is obtained by dividing the number of the sub-scanning-direction pixels of the image by 2, respectively, sets the image area of the processing system to be an area except one of respective split areas different from each other when the image indicated by the image data after the expansion is equally split in two in the main scanning direction, and inputs the image data, which indicate the image, into each of the processing systems.
