PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle for an obstacle race in which efficiency of an adjusting work is improved and labor is saving by enabling the adjustment of the height of the obstacle according to the sex of athletes from the track. SOLUTION: The obstacle 11 consists of a plurality of pieces of stretchable/contractible supports 12 and a horizontal rod 13 supported on the top ends of the stretchable/contractible supports 12. The stretchable/contractible support 12 is formed of a fixed supporting cylinder 14 and an elevating/lowering cylinder 15 externally covering movably up and down on the fixed supporting cylinder 14. In the fixed supporting cylinder 14, an elevating/lowering mechanism 16 for moving up and down the elevating/lowering cylinder 15 by a rotating operation from the outside to adjust the height of the horizontal rod 13.
