The automatic tennis ball collection machine has arms (17,18) close to the ground (2) at the front to gather balls (1) together. The balls are fed into the nip of a roller (3) whose closest approach to the ground (27) is slightly less than the diameter of the balls. The drum is driven by a belt (10) from the rear wheels (4) of the trolley which is pushed by hand with a handle (15) above the rear wheels. As the drum turns the balls roll round a concave member (7) which picks them up from the ground and deposits them in a box (11).
