<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make uniformly illuminable the whole display member by surface lighting of a light guide plate without any restriction on the display member. <P>SOLUTION: A dial 13 and a liquid crystal display element 10 are arranged on the reverse surface side of the light guide plate 24 which receives and guides the light from a light emitting element 23 from its flank in a surface direction, and many linear prisms 25 having reflecting surfaces 25a reflecting the light guided by the light guide plate 24 to its reverse surface side are formed over the entire top surface of the light guide plate 24. External light is therefore transmitted through the light guide plate 24 in a light place, so the dial 13 and liquid crystal display member 10 can excellently be lit up. Further, the light which is emitted by the light emitting element 23 and guided by the light guide plate 24 in the surface direction is reflected by the reflecting surfaces 25a of the prisms 25 to the reverse surface side of the light guide plate 24, so the whole light guide plate 24 serves for surface lighting and the dial 13 and liquid crystal display element 10 can nearly uniformly be lit up.
