<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an LED which can be easily assembled by a simple constitution at a low cost and can surely radiate heat even in a large current drive. <P>SOLUTION: The LED 10 comprises a terminal 11 which is made of a columniform conductive material and cut off in the axial direction into a first portion 11a and a second portion 11b so that the first portion has an area larger than that of the second portion at least on the end face of the one side, and has an insulating layer 13 inserted between the first and second portions, and an LED chip 12 which is mounted on the end face of the one side of the first portion of the terminal, and whose surface is electrically connected with the end face of one side of the second portion by wire bonding. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
