<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel effective method for reducing the volume of sludge, and an apparatus therefor. <P>SOLUTION: After raw water such as sewage or industrial wastewater is treated in a biological treatment tank 2, sludge 5 is separated in a sedimentation and separation tank 3 and a part of the separated sludge 5 is returned to the biological treatment tank 2 while the remainder of the separated sludge 5 is heated to 60°C or higher to 90°C or lower by a heater 7 and further pressurized by a pump 8 to be blown in the biological treatment tank 2 as a cavitation jet 11. In this high temperature type method for reducing the volume of sludge, the sludge 5 once raised in its temperature is cooled to the normal temperature or a temperature near thereto to be subjected to the treatment due to the cavitation jet 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
