PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to set up the burden of the call charge for transferring mails, using a portable terminal. SOLUTION: The portable terminal carrier system 10a receives an instruction which side bears the charge for transferring a mail from a portable terminal 30a between the send side and the receive side, and sends charge information including this information and a sending charge together with the mail to a receive side system 10b. If the information indicate the receive side bears the charge, the receive side system 10b totals the sending and receiving charges and charges the receive side portable terminal 30b. If the information indicate the send side bears the charge, it sends charging information including the receiving charge to the send side system 10a.
